Can you schedule a copy of files in DOS?

Hi. Is it possible, when in Windows10, to have Windows schedule a copy of files and folders in DOS? That is, schedule the PC to shut down, do copying of files and folders in DOS, then restart to Windows again. Thanks. Rich EDIT: I ask because I am in Windows10 doing a copy of 17GB of data onto a USB stick, and most of the time the transfer rate is 0 bytes. It's going to take hours to complete.

Don't think so. DOS as we once knew it started merging into Windows over 20 years ago. DOS/Disk Operating System was installed 'back then' followed by installing Windows/GUI [Graphical User Interface] on top of it. The merging started when Windows 95 came out for consumers and to some extent Windows NT 3.51 or 4 for business. What we've ended up with is the Command Prompt, generally don't have the ability any longer to boot into plain ole DOS.

I needed to move 10GB of files to another drive so used my CD/DVD burning program to create an .iso file containing those individual files then moved that single file, didn't have to set and watch it happen. Could also do it with a compression program such as what File Explorer can do or WinZip, 7-Zip, etc., create a single file holding many.

As for a Schedule, if Windows shuts down it can't run the Schedule.

You could run a batch file that boots to safe mode, does the copy then reboots back to normal mode.

No, I don't know how to do this at the moment but I'm sure it's possible.

Easier would be to boot to Safe Mode. Do the copy overnight. Boot back to normal in the morning.
No waiting around, no wasted time.
