Desktop shifted up by a few pixels

    Hello.

Since a few days, I've been having this strange issue of the entire screen moving up by a few pixels. It is really frustrating, since I cannot see which programs have open windows on the taskbar, since the little white bar at the bottom that indicates open windows is now missing.

The issue is resolved if I restart windows, so it probably isn't a hardware problem with my screen. I hope someone can help me troubleshoot this..

I am currently running version 2004 of Windows 10.

    Thank you.

I don't think I managed to upload the images, so here's a link to some photos of the issue: Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

It appears that the background wallpaper of the trees or vineyard is one of your personal pictures. Is that correct?

Did you notice that one of the pictures is slightly wider than the other---by maybe a quarter inch?

But we cannot see the right side of the monitor frame. Maybe your camera cut it off?

Right click the desktop and choose personalize.

Do you see a choice for "slideshow" from the "background" dropdown? If so, choose it.

Do you then see choices such as center, tile, fill, and fit from a "choose a fit" dropdown menu?

What happens if you play with those settings?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that the next time this happens.

But I don't think that is the problem, since in one of the images, you can see the cutoff portion of the wallpaper at the bottom of the screen. Also, there are a lot of windows that were open at the time, but these little white bars at the bottom were missing. Did you notice that?

If that is your only current wallpaper, you won't see the "slideshow" choice; just "picture".

You can choose from at least 5 choices from the "choose a fit" dropdown.

They will display differently, depending on how precisely you have sized the wallpaper.

Here is the same picture, displayed with the 5 different choices available to me under "choose a fit".

Do you see the slight differences???

Notice the differences from the bottom of the Corsair's tires to the taskbar.

Notice how much you can see of the gray car on the left side of the background.

Notice the distance from the wingtips to the border on each side.

Notice that there is a black bar across the top of only 2 of the 5 pictures.

In alphabetical order: center, fill, fit, stretch, tile:

I think you misunderstood my issue.

This is when the problem occurs: Desktop shifted up by a few pixels-image.png

Notice that the little white bars beneath Edge and Firefox are not visible Desktop shifted up by a few pixels-image.png(They are open, just minimized here)

The next photo in my original attachment is after I restart Windows. Desktop shifted up by a few pixels-image.png
Everything is back to normal again.

I don't see the "little white bars" in the full screen shot of either of your pictures. I see the white bar only in your closeup of just those 2 icons.

Do you have any idea why there is a full-screen wide mostly gray sliver in your "problem" picture?? I have a good idea.

Yes that is the exact problem.

The top of the screen has somehow moved to the bottom and the indicators for active windows are missing/covered by the newly moved pixels. They are restored when I restart my computer. The closeup I attached is after I restarted, when they were visible again. There weren't any in the original attachment, since I messed up by taking a photo too early, before I actually opened anything.

Play with the sizing options I mentioned.

    Other than that, good luck.

BTW: Use the Print Screen key , paste into paint and save it then post a picture that way rather than with a cell phone picture. It will be much better to look at.
