    statistics.bin file

This morning I noticed a file on my Documents Folder which I do not know how it got there or what it does.
I'm unable to find information by doing a search. Security scans say it is a safe file.
Anybody know what it does. Should I delete it?

Use Agent Ransack – Mythicsoft or similar software to hunt that file down on your PC to see what folder it's in.

Or maybe you can right-click on the filename from posted image and get the full path. I don't see any such file on my C: drive FWIW.

@steve108, thanks the file is in C: >This Pc >Documents.
Both Agent Ransack, Everything, show the Path. Apparently I do not have a program that can open that file.

I didn't find any such file on my PC. I think you can safely delete it or maybe rename it first to statistic.bin.xxx and make sure nothing breaks after several reboots and days of using the PC, then delete it would probably be safest.

Hey, you recognized that 108 - very cool I picked it for that reason.

Okay, take care and update on if this worked out for you. Another thing to do is look at the properties of this file for any hints on where/when it came from.

TIP: If you every suspect a file is naughty, you can upload it to VirusTotal or have it scanned before downloading to your PC.

I realized that, few days ago I made a short cut of my Recycle Bin icon, so I could remove it from the desk top and add it to the taskbar.
That maybe what that file is.

I suppose you could repeat that process and confirm your theory easily?

Thinking about this further, I can't imagine a recycle bin shortcut creating a file named statistics.bin . Seems too weird.

My Google-Fu on "statistics.bin" is bringing me back to your post. Well since your sorted for now, that's good. Unsolved mystery for now, I guess.
