    My desktop PC won't sign out when I shut down.

    When I shut down with Start Menu > Power icon > shut down, my PC doesn't seem to sign off properly before shutting down. I know because when I turn on again and sign in with a different user, task manager shows the previous user as still signed on (but "disconnected").

    Yet, when I turn off by pressing the power button, this doesn't happen.

    Why is it not signing out when I shut down?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Open the Command Prompt by typing cmd.exe into Start Menu, right-click on Cmd.exe, and open it as an administrator.

    Execute below command to shutdown your computer.

    Code:
    Shutdown  /s  /t 0

    Why do you want me to do that? I know that will sign off the PC for sure. What I'd like to know is why the issue is happening.

    Thanks anyway

    @antonio3535,
    Hello.

    I would suggest disabling fast startup if it's enabled to see if that fixes the issue: Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

    fast startup sometimes causes issues for some.

    Excellent. Thank you for letting us know. Have you noticed any slowness at startup? You could always try enabling fast startup again to see if the shutdown works properly with it on now.
