Copy one hard drive "in toto" and move to another hard drive

I have purchased a 2 TB Samsung SSD to replace a 2 TB Toshiba HD - it is the system boot drive. What software have you successfully used to move one drive to the other - so that when I power off and remove the Toshiba HD, the system boots from the new 2 TB Samsung SSD???

    Windows 10 Pro - 32 Gig Ram.

Your thoughts and suggestions are really appreciated.

    Kindest regards
    Stu

I've used Samsung Data Migration numerous times to clone to Samsung SSDs - you can download it from their website. SSD Tools & Software | Download | Samsung V-NAND SSD | Samsung Semiconductor Global Website
Macrium Reflect Free is another fine choice.

In my case, I bought a SATA to USB cable, attached the new drive to the SATA end, the USB end to the PC USB port, installed Samsung Data Migration and initiated it to clone my original drive to the new SSD. After the clone is finished, I turned off the PC, swapped the drives, then turned on the PC and it booted from the new SSD.

Since you have a desktop, you can keep the HDD in the PC for additional storage and skip buying the SATA to USB cable if you plan to use both drives in the desktop.

You should definitely make sure that after cloning, the BIOS is configured to boot from the SSD and that the PC will boot with the HDD disconnected from SATA bus (you can leave it in the PC).

Then after confirming the SSD (with the HDD disconnected) is working as expected and all your files are there, you can reattach the HDD, reformat it, then use it as additional storage as you have not mentioned that the HDD has any problems.
