How do I change a file back to it's original form?

I tried to use a file that's supposed to be kept as a file, but accidently ran it using internet explorer. How do I change it back to just being a file? (this probably makes no sense because I know absolutely nothing about computers, so please be descriptive with the answer)

Welcome To TenForums Liampbjray! That being said I would suggest that you reset default apps. Click Start \ Setting \ Apps \ Default Apps. Scroll to the bottom and select "Reset" If you have made any changes to the App settings they will be reset to default.

    JAR files are Java archives....

A JAR (Java ARchive) is a package file format typically used to aggregate many Java class files and associated metadata and resources (text, images, etc.) into one file for distribution.
    JAR (file format) - Wikipedia

A common use for the JAR format is to distribute an executable Java program. If that is what your JAR file is, then it need to be opened by the Java Runtime Environment. That is Java.exe, typically found in the Program Files\Java or Program Files (x86)\Java folder. If it had been working before then you should already have Java installed.

You just need to set the default app for your JAR files to Java.exe, this tutorial tells you how to do that.
