Nikon digital raw images??
To a single file as opposed to a single folder?
An all too 'obvious' suggestion would be to create a zip file, not for the sake of compression, but solely to create a single file containing them.
I feel the question seems to expect more though.
If to a single folder, search for all nef files on PC, select all results, and COPY (not move) to destination.
Why copy? Because if that's a lot of data. and something goes wrong in the move- especially to an external medium, there's no problem recovering and trying again.
When complete, you can delete the source files - you might then wish to consider dealing with any empty folders.
You might find a 3rd party fast search tool (so often mentioned here) helpful.
Thks for your prompt replies.
Perhaps I didnt make myself sufficiently clear...(wouldnt be the first time...)
I hv lots of Nikon RAW (NEF) files on one drive in practically as many directories/folders.
I would like to gather the files in one file; i.e. copy only the files not the directory structure.
Possible ?
How ?
Thks,
Lacustre
Perhaps so. I've already suggested the straightforward way of copying them to a folder in case that's what's meant.
Bear in mind the files could be in any sort of folder structure, which makes giving exact command syntax pretty much impossible, except on a per folder and subfolders basis.
That has been covered in another recent thread, I think.
As Dalchina already told, this is extremely easy to do with File Explorer.
First, create a new folder. Open File Explorer, browse to main / top folder containing your NEF files. Type ext:nef in search field and hit enter.
In screenshot sample, I am searching all Dynamic Link Libraries, extension DLL, on a custom folder containing files from Windows 10 ISO, so I use search ext:dll:
This will search the main folder and all its subfolders for all files with given extension.
When search is ready, click the Explorer Home tab, click Select all, click either Move to or Copy to to open a drop down list of all drives and folders on your computer, and select folder in which you want to copy or move the files:
