Does it have "factory image restore" as an option under Troubleshoot?

Is there some kind of DELL recovery thing built into your winre?

Look under "Troubleshoot" and see if there is a thing called "Factory Image Restore"

Or do you just have the standard win10 recovery options on it?

If it is the standard win10 options, it shouldn't be turning off. Possibly there is something strange about your winre.wim power settings

You could test by booting a different .wim file from the hard disk. One way to do that is just replace winre.wim with a different bootable wim ( rename it to winre.wim and put it in the recovery folder.)
I wiped out the factory restore option ages ago when I clean installed from a Media Creation Tool created USB flash drive so it will be standard WinRe. I think Ghot has probably nailed it when he suggested it could be a deliberate timing setting but Thanks for your help pal

Thats what my thinking is too. Im guessing it must be a deliberate timng setting. After the restart that takes you to the startup settings screen youve shown if you sit for one minute and do nothing the PC shuts down each time.

I don't KNOW for sure. But that sounds reasonable.
Might want to wait and see what @dalchina thinks. ^^

Me... I've never owned a pre-built computer. I've always built my own. That way there's no bloatware, and no company specific... funny business.
It's not even that hard. It's like adult legos. All you really need is a good LED flashlight and a Philips head screwdriver.

I am the same way. I just can't resist not knowing, tweaking, messing around with Windows. That's why I started using backup software back in like 2002.

If you decide to go with Macrium, here is my one pic tutorial for how to make a full OS image backup...

Ofc, there are quite a few much more in depth tutorials for Macrium, on Ten Forums.

As for building computers...it's pretty much all in the motherboard manual. There's only like six parts to a computer.

Motherboard, CPU, RAM vid card, power supply and storage. Well and the case, but you can even build a comp without the case.

Best of all... for the same price, you will get MORE if you build it yourself. There's even companies that will build killer computers for you, (for a large price).

    Like OriginPC, Falcon Northwest, etc.

I'll be doing a clean installation of Windows 10 in the coming weeks does the winre.wim get rewritten when you do a clean installation anyway?

I dont have loads of Apps/games on my PC that need reinstalling even if I needed a clean install so thats why Ive never bothered with system backups. I I usually try SFC and DISM, might attempt a system restore if they dont work but Im gonna add in place upgrade-repair install to my arsenal as well in the future lol If they dont sort out future issues theres Reset PC or a clean install doesnt take me too long if needed

The easiest recovery method is to perform an In-Place Upgrade.
Copy the ISO to the desktop, right- click, mount, and then run setup.

    I hope this helps!

Don't learn the hard way like I did. After you do your... clean install ...er, In-place upgrade, get Macrium Reflect and start using it.

If I perform a clean installation of Windows at some point using a USB bootable flash drive created with the Media Creation Tool. Am I correct in thinking that the winre.wim file will get recreated then anyway during a clean installation?
