    My pc screen is frozen

Last pm my desktop HP Windows 10 had a frozen screen. I have explained in part what I have tried. I have worked for hours with nothing happening. I used a google search to do many things that were suggested.
Pressed Esc 2 times, tried Alt ctrl delete- finally the screen with taskmanager showed but, while the mouse will move clicking it does nothing. There were several other "fixes" with different keys that I can find and write out for you if needed. I decided to switch to the other hard drive. I hooked it up. Turned on the pc and I got the same exact frozen screen!! I took out a very old screen and tried the that screen. It was frozen also. If I need to take it in to a computer repair company. I am not sure what I take in. But I pray there is help for me.
Thank you for any help. Bonnie

Goes the freeze occur before Windows loads,or after?
If it is after, then the graphic card and/or driver are more likely to be causing it.
In the search box, type in---dxdiag---and left click on the application.
The first page will give general information and the Display page gives graphic card on the left and driver info on the right.
Note the card maker's name and model number, also from the right panel the full driver details.
Go to the maker's site ONLY and download the latest driver applicable to your graphic card.
If possible, download Display Driver Uninstaller,[DDU] and use it to completely uninstall the old driver,in Safe Mode, then install the new driver.
See if that makes any difference.

    RE: the 2 help replies

I have to add a question that may be the answer. Since the 2nd hard drive that hasn't been used in years went immediately to a frozen state could my pc be hjacked? It seems strange that not only the old hard drive would have a problem but one that is basically new would have the same problem.

Re: reply 2 I can not type or get anything to click. The pc is frozen but the mouse moves but does nothing.

    Thank you!!

When does the freeze occur,is it during POST whilst the bios is in control?
Is it when Win 10 is loading or after?
In post 1,line 3,you state that Task Manager shows,so are you able to log in?
Presumably the Google searches are done using another computer,is that correct?
Freezing solutions might require a Graphic card removal and a re-install or replacement, plus driver updates.
If you are not comfortable carrying out these steps, then perhaps handing it over to another may be a sensible option.

    frzen screen

on both computers windows loads I don't use a password. The first I see are the pop-ups of skype and a couple of ads that want me to go from free to paid app. I can move the mouse but not click on anything. I got to task manager by Ctrl Alt Delete. I have no idea how to do anything with graphic cards But the one hard drive is basically new. I bought it when told the old one could not be fixed. Then I found out it could be refurbished. I unplugged the new pc, covered it up and it has sat there for at least 4 years. The only time it was used is when I put Windows 10 on it. So any cards had really no use or opportunity to fill up or wear out. I found a repairman and will take the 2 into him on Monday. I am afraid doing things like cards or much of anything other than things that I can't do on the frozen pc's. No keyboard fixes worked. I will stop this thread and not waste your time here. I am using my husbands think pad and it has made me realize it is impossible to use. I really hate it. To small, can't read the screen etc. Thank you all for the help. Bonnie

Thank you all for the help. I realized that unlike other times when I have received help here I have been able to run scans etc. I can't do any of that. I will be taking both hard drives in on Monday. Thank you. Bonnie
