You should ALWAYS reset the BIOS to defaults, THEN flash the BIOS. It's much safer to flash the BIOS from a USB stick.

AFTER the BIOS has successfully been flashed, THEN you can go back and do your overclock. Keep in mind that you may need to tweak your overclock a bit, after the flash. Things may not be exactly the same.

After downloading the file, read the motherboard manual directions, or look for the directions at MSI's website... you may have to rename the BIOS file.

Definitely. It even tells you that in your motherboard manual. (I'm reading the pdf version right now).


There's three ways to flash your BIOS. The one you picked, might work, if you reset the BIOS before you attempt to flash it.

The other two methods are usually more successful.

If the Dragon Center method doesn't work, even after resetting the BIOS to defaults. Try the M-Flash method.




It seems you have a Flash BIOS USB port on the motherboard...

I can't find an easy option to restore factory defaults.

If that's the case I'll try tomorrow. If it fails again I don't want to lose sleep over it.

Look in your manual. There's also a motherboard "jumper" that you can use to reset the BIOS to defaults.



Btw... This looks like the easiest way to Flash your BIOS... you don't have to do step 1, it's already done.







Here is the location of the jumper: JBAT 1 You should just be able to short the jumper, and wait about 1-2 minutes, to set the BIOS to defaults.

When resetting the BIOS turn the comp OFF, and the switch on the power supply, OFF. Leave the power supply plugged in. Hold the case power switch IN for about 4 seconds to discharge things like capacitors.
Then short the jumper or remove the battery.

Thank you! If I had the manual I'm sure I could've avoided this but it's a remanufactured board so all I got was hardware and a nice box.

Almost forgot, your OC might be the same, but it might be a little bit different. Probably a good idea to just redo the OC from scratch.
