Windows 10 version 2004 not updating Recycle Bin icon

    Hi @Brink

Just wondering, I am still having trouble with 2004 not updating the recycle bin ever after formatting the hard drive and installing from scratch, starting to think it may be the display/driver but it never happened in 1909.

If needed, you could refresh (F5) the desktop to manually update the Recycle Bin icon.

Are you using a custom icon or the default icon for the Recycle Bin?

Using the system icon. As far as F5, doesn't work, have use the context menu refresh. It is leaving the file icon and showing recycle bin empty requiring a manual refresh and the file icon goes away.

As a test, go through the method to "Restore Default" the icon for the Full and Empty Recycle Bin to see if it may sort this. If not, you could try changing the icons, and select the same default icons.

Alright, I use #1 to replace the icons. The real problem is that it is not consistent, you don't know when it is going to happen or what is causing it.

Hopefully, changing and/or resetting the icons will serve as a workaround to fix this.

Well the swapping icons seem to stop the problem of leaving the deleted file icon on the desktop which is a plus. What happens now is that the deleting aspect works right, but if you use restore, then the refresh has to be used - sometimes, not always, but that is better than losing the file when you want to restore it.

If anything else comes up, I will get back.

Well it just failed and left the icon on desktop with 0 bytes and refresh removed it - 2004 ain't what it needs to be...

I scheduled my PC to reboot every night and for the last two mornings I have icons on my desktop with 0 bytes that were deleted or moved. I press F5 and they go away.

I've been seeing this glitch as well lately. Not much to do other than F5 to refresh it.
