Problem with desktop icons

    Problem with desktop icons


    As you can see from the pic some of my snips are showing up as small pictures and the majority are showing just icons any ideas as to how I can change the icons to the the pictures they are??

    Hi have you tried rebuilding the icon cache? Rebuild Icon Cache in Windows 10

    Run sysdm.cpl

    Advanced> Performance> Settings> Visual Effects

    "Show thumbnails instead of icons"

    Try moving the png icons into your "Pictures" folder and see if the picture shows up there. If you really want the pictures on your desktop then move them back again and see if the png retains its picture. It doesn't cost anything to try it.

    Also try right-click on desktop then select "Refresh".

    Thanks for your reply Ken but I have had to reinstall onto a brand new drive and all is well now - the older drive was corrupted how I don't know but am surmising that that is what is was.
