Unable to delete files or folder

I am using windows 10 pro version 1903 and I need to delete a folder containing about 6 files and 4 sub folders.

When I click delete, I get the following error:
Unable to delete files or folder-1.jpg

I am then prompted with a dialog where I enter the administrator username and password.

I then get the following error:
Unable to delete files or folder-2.jpg
and it's saying it wants permission from my user account. I would have thought that if I log in as an administrator, this would have more permissions than I do!!

I keep going around in a circle with windows wanting permission after permission and I just cannot delete these files or folders; they all behave the same.

I have tried under safe mode but I get the same and I have tried changing ownership too but I still keep getting asked for permissions. I have also tried inheriting permissions from a folder further up but this doesn't do anything either.

I am limited in that I cannot install any software due to domain restrictions so is there any other way to delete this folder and files?

    Thanks

That restriction probably also applies to deleting or uninstalling things. Whoever controls the Domain should be able to give access.

May not be a solution for you due to the Domain thing but when I have difficulty in deleting things I boot to a Linux Mint LiveDVD and do the deletion outside of Windows.

Try Iobit Unlocker, it will delete that folder, this program has always worked for me to remove stubborn files or folders.

    I had similar problem.
I was advised to use RoboCopy method and worked fine!

    Try this,
1 left click on a file
2 right click on the selected file.
    3 left click on---Properties---
    4 left click on---Details tab---
5 at the bottom of the window, left click on---Remove properties and personal information---
6 in the new window, left click on the second Radio Button---Remove the following properties from this file---
    7 in the same window,left click---Select all---
    8 in the same window,left cliclk---O.K.---
    9 in the---Details tab window---left click---O.K.
The file should be removed. It works for each individual file and is not as time consuming as initially appears.

What is the full folder path?

Are you able to boot from an installation USB?

There are portable versions of Unlocker and FileASSASSIN. No need to install anything.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. First I tried the robocopy method which appeared to clear out everything except one single folder the path of which I cannot remember but will look at when I get back in to work on Friday.

But, needless to say, I cannot delete this folder. It is a heavily nested subfolder which stalls approx 6 levels deep with the permissions error so what is beyond (files or further folders) I don't know.

I downloaded portable versions of both Unlocker and FileAssassin neither of which worked on this lone folder.
Unlocker told me that the folder wasn't locked and failed to delete. FileAssassin wouldn't let me drag a folder as it only appears to work with files.

I tried to change the owner only to be told that I need permissions but it failed when I typed in the admin details which I suspect to not being connected to the domain so again I'll try this Friday when I'm next in the office.

If all else fails, make a live Linux USB flash drive, boot it and use it to delete the folder and sub folders. Works every time as it doesn't care one tiny bit about Windows security.
