If all else fails, make a live Linux USB flash drive, boot it and use it to delete the folder and sub folders. Works every time as it doesn't care one tiny bit about Windows security.

    Live Ubuntu
I downloaded a copy of live ubuntu and booted from a USB key where I was successfully able to navigate to the folder in question.

The only problem is that it wouldn't let me delete the folder for some reason. The delete key didn't work and there wasn't a delete option on the right click menu.

That is strange. I've never had a problem with Ubuntu deleting Windows anything. @jimbo45. if you're around, do you have any ideas on this?

If I may, I also have not had an issue using Linux, in my case the Mint version. As mentioned Linux can access an PC drive and have no problem with files and folders. Maybe there's some encryption at work? My Linux LiveDVDs. as well as the installed versions and the Bootable USB include GPARTED which when push comes to shove can delete all partitions to give a truly clean drive for reinstalling the OS.

    Hi there
If you are on any sort of Linux just get into super user (su / sudo) and then you can delete anything ( su rm xxxx etc).

You can even delete the OS itself (if you are bonkers enough to do it "rm '/' ) !!!!!. Then don't complain if the OS hangs !!!

To mount a USB drive / stick -- just do lsblk

then if you see the stick as /dev/sdx or whatever -- sudo mount /dev/sdx -t auto -o rw /mnt

(/mnt usually always exists by default as a block device on linux systems --if not simply create it sudo /mkdir /mnt).

    Cheers

Jimbo, he's booting Live Ubuntu from a flash drive, trying to delete a folder with sub-folders. Don't know the path but it shouldn't matter, right? Also having no familiarity with Linux, the commands you mention will be meaningless to cosmarchy. He needs to do this from a file manager unless you can be explicit in what the commands will be.
@cosmarchy, what is the full path the to folder (that contains the sub folders) you are trying to delete.

Good, glad to hear it. How did you resolve the problem? Can you mark this as resolved.
