The details pane used to include Contributing Artist, Album Artist, #, Album, as recently as yesterday. now it does not. how do I make it do so yet again? i got win10 and a asus vivobook if that is relevant

a. If you experienced a sudden change, try using a System Restore point created before that change.
System Restore will only be available if you enabled it after an upgrade.
Note too that restoring doesn't always succeed - no harm done.
b. tenforums again and again recommends using disk imaging regularly and routinely - e.g. Macrium Reflect (free-paid).
If you have a very recent disk image consider restoring that- but note this can affect any data on the partition so may be too big a change for a small issue.
c. Do you see those fields if you create a new user for test purposes and log in as that user? If so, it's a general Windows issue. If not, it's a user profile issue.
Full Windows build number: the forum prompted you for this, but it's missing.
Which file type(s) are you dealing with? Are they all mp3?
Finally, I use File metadata which allows such fields to be specified and enabled selectively - free- and can expose more fields than Windows offers, on a per extension basis. This could help.

System Restore?- Information displayed in the Details pane varies by filetype. Have you verified you're selecting a valid music file?
- Is anything showing in the Details pane? A screenshot would be helpful.
