permissions problem on opening a simple text file

    I am running Windows 10 version 2004.

I recently installed 'Lope Edit' (a sophisticated Notepad replacement) but it is unable to open a simple text (txt) file. I'm sure the software is fine but for whatever reason, Windows is being very cautious as I am sure the file is harmless (I was the one who created it with "hello world").
Windows insists on checking for permission and interrupts it with a 'permissions' error as shown in this screenshot :

I followed the instructions as detailed in this link but still am prevented from opening the file.

Thanks in advance to all who reply,
    Dan

Please open the Command Prompt by typing cmd.exe into Start Menu, right-click on Cmd.exe, and open it as an administrator.

Execute below commands one at a time:

    Code:
    Takeown /f %UserProfile%\Desktop\drb_apps\drbLOPEtest.txt

    icacls %UserProfile%\Desktop\drb_apps\drbLOPEtest.txt /grant Administrators:F

    Dan,

1 You are using a folder in a "Copy of C" with a very strange UserName. Is that significant?
2 If, in that folder, you right-click, New, Text document - can your app open that?
3 Can other applications open files in that folder?
4 Can your new app open text files in more conventional folder paths?

FreeBooster: Looking forward to testing your suggestion but I won't have access to the PC in question til next week, so I'll get back to you then. Thanks!

    Denis:
    1. Somehow my HDD acquired that name when I cloned it a while ago; I don't recall the details but I assure you it has no significance.
    3. Notepad has no problem opening that file.

As for your questions 2 & 4, I look forward to testing your suggestion but I won't have access to the PC in question til next week, so I'll get back to you then. Thanks!
