OK i know this might not go down well but...

I meant the twice yearly upgrades ( since about 4 years back ).
Lots can change in 4 years, but I do see your point.

Tell me about it...
Back when W10 was released in 2015 compared to W7 back in 2009. It was just over 5 years but they changed a lot and i can't say it was for the best. My main issue is with W10 always having to get updates. And no i DO NOT support piracy, but i'd like to have the option to turn them off completely if i feel the need to instead of what W10 offers.

Did u check CPU and HDD temps ? Maybe one of them was overheating ?
Is that sort of information logged in the event viewer?

I don't think so, but you can use a program like Aida64 or MSI Afterburner and they'll display your temps.
EDIT : This is a bit OFFTOPIC but are the forums not working should ? Last few replies don't appear in the topic anymore... not sure if perhaps there are server issues ?

Looks like they were removed :)

Sometimes a person will leave an offensive reply for someone which can get reported or seen by admin who will remove said offending post.

@Mikey89, “they changed a lot”
In my last career before retiring, I worked for a well known company that built PC’s and manufactured PC & other items components. I was hired as an electroplater but literally knew nothing about using PC’s. The company was using MS-DOS and Microsoft 3.0, maybe 3.1. No training whatsoever: I was ridiculed from the so-called experts. To make a long story short, constant “they changed a lot” turned out to be a benefit for me. In addition, I’ve never had serious Windows Update problems and the few issues that I had to deal were very easy to take off. Anyway, I never forgot my roots and I accept the fact that it’s the way it is Microsoft, Apple or Linux. I’ve tried them all and I do only Microsoft now. That’s the approach I take when helping family, friends & where I volunteer.
--- Happy computing and I mean that.

2004 might be okay for general desktop users. But I've read reports on audio forums that there are problems. Users of VSTs, DAWs, and other audio production software had problems.
I'm in that league. I'm sticking with 1809.
And anyway, what exactly were 1903, 1909, or 2004 supposed to fix or improve?
I've been running 2004 on some of my machines since it was released on May 27th, a couple of them were offered it immediately through Windows Update. No issues at all except one - Defrag/Optimise's inability to remember when it was last run.

Most importantly, security fixes.
1809 was due to stop getting security updates in May 2020 but got an extension to November 2020 for public health reasons..
Microsoft said:
Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations, and IoT Core editions of Windows 10, version 1809.... The final security update for these editions of Windows 10, version 1809 will be released on November 10, 2020 instead of May 12, 2020.
Microsoft revised end of service date for Windows 10 version 1809

@MeAndMyComputer i'm happy in the end it all worked out great for you.
But sometiems change isn't always for the best. It's no secret that Windows XP and Windows 7 are very liked and each time MS put out another OS, in this case Vista after XP and 8 or 8.1 after 7, the general reaction wasn't too good.
There's an saying : if it ain't broken, don't fix it.
And i have to say in some regards i do wish MS would've waited more instead of releasing another OS right after 8.1, i'm talking about 10. W10 is not bad, but it's not the best either. I do like that at least for the past 5 years there's no sign of a new OS because that would mean people would have to again to adapt to another new version just like they did in the past with Vista, 7, 8.1, 10 etc.
Anyway to make it short, i think MS would've been far better off if they released fewer versions of they're OS and not pushed out so many in the past 10 years or so. Vista, 8.1, 10 all didn't have the same amount of work and polish that good old XP and 7 had.
