    Restarting while trying to boot

Sometimes System 1 computer will go into a restart cycle before getting to the Windows logo. My work around is to shutdown using PSU switch, press start button, turn on PSU, press start and it is OK. Have replaced PSU, removed and replaced old Nvidia drivers with DDU, disconnected all HDDs except C drive (SSD), reseated RAM. It seems as though I have to discharge the power system before it will boot. BIOS set to boot from SSD, fast boot is off.

Prior to this I was having random reboots with Kernel Power critical messages and the new Nvidia drivers seemed to fix that. Once it has booted the system is now stable without rebooting. Now it wont boot from a cold start as described above.

    Thks

The problem is when you force shutdown files are not closed so the disk system get corupted so first move is to boot from install media and run a disk check. Whats the weather like it has been very hot in the UK and it may have overheated and early shut down may be the bios as its to hot. Check heat sinck and fans

You've set Fast boot on BIOS to off. Did you also set Windows fast boot to disabled? (Windows fast boot is a kind of hybrid hibernation)

After all boot fails, did you do a disk check?

Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
    chkdsk c: /f
It will say your disk is in use and if you want to schedule to next start = yes
    Restart

I've run chkdsk and have Windows fastboot disabled.

I think I have solved the problem. I opened the PC case and switched off the power to the PSU and as soon as the LEDs on the GPU extinguished the speakers started screaming at me making me think that the GPU or Nvidia were still part of the problem. In Device Manager I noticed 2 sound devices: 1. Realtek & 2. Nvidia HD sound. I disabled the Nvidia device and removed the Nvidia HD sound process via Control Panel. PC now boots smoothly on restarts and from shutdown.

If I disconnect PSU power the speakers still scream at me? So I leave it in its normal state of power on to the PSU and it boots OK and is stable through the course of the day. Driver clash? I don't know but it is running smoothly.

Thanks for your thoughts and any further ideas most welcome.

ATX Power supply has +5V always on that power the MB. In other words, the MB is alive even if the computer is off.

I have a surge arrest and when the computer is off I turn the hardware switch also off on the surge arrest. This avoids voltage spikes to damage my computer.
