    File explorer problems

Hi All, New member here, first post, be gentle as I`m not the sharpest knife in the drawer. When I try to copy file folders to my NAS box from my laptop, I get errors about 50% of the time, sometimes it copies over an empty folder, having taken the correct amount of time, some times it stops with a message that something external has modified the file, sometimes a network error, and sometimes it just works. Single files always copy correctly. So, what am I missing? All help appreciated. David.

Hi, you might see if Teracopy helps: (there seem to be both free and licensed versions)
TeraCopy for Windows - Code Sector

In case of a copy error TeraCopy will try to recover. If unable to recover in the worst case scenario it will simply skip the problematic file, not terminating the entire transfer. It can also wait for network or device reconnection.
TeraCopy can verify files after they have been copied to ensure that they are identical.

Thanks for that recommend, I have downloaded it and am using it successfully, still wondering why Windows file explorer is playing up though.

    Glad that improves things.

I can only suggest it's the standard issue of reliability of data transfer. Protocols for end-to-end data transfer normally are built on several layers, with 'feedback' intrinsic to the transfer, normally in a lower level. If that is either not implemented, or not implemented adequately, perhaps compared to the level of corruption experienced over a link, then using methods with additional transfer verification might help.

As to what the corruption is, I have no way of suggesting how to determine that I'm afraid.
