New Windows 10 user - Looking for an overall guide to Windows 10

What book would you recommend for someone who has used Windows 7 for years and has some computer technical experience?

Yes, I have looked at the tutorial section. All kinds of tutorials there but nothing which can guide a new user to an overall understanding on how to use Windows 10. I have searched this forum for a book tutorial but all I find are posts about Surface books.

This question has probably been asked many times. If there is an existing post which answers my question please send me the url.

    Thank you!

Windows 10 is fairly simple, just install and use, but the most users are concerned about the privacy issues.

Hi, there are various guides around. The Windows for Dummies series might be of interest.

The tutorials address specific issues as you will have seen, so when you have a particular question, it's great resource to search.

    Coming from W7:
    - you might not like the start menu - use Open Shell (free) - replaces Classic Shell. Full function configurable menu- can look like Win 7's and more.
    - you might not like the appearance - it's not as customisable as Win 7's and lacks the Advanced Appearance Settings dialogue - but there are some things that can be done- some have made significant changes. Even transparency is feasible.
    - many features of the Control Panel have been moved to Settings- a slow change
    - the major update cycle is 6 monthly, with annual builds likely to be the big ones now. May's (2004) was the last. MS has a bad reputation for introducing bugs with feature updates (upgrades) and sometimes updates.

Unlike Win 7's service packs and updates, the specification of Win 10 is a moving target. Expect it to change most significantly with the annual major build upgrade, assuming MS keeps to that pattern.

Win 10 adds the Store and UWP apps (which don't use exe's and dll's). However you can still download and install programs as ever.

Microsoft has released a Win 10 Quick Start Guide. I'm sure there are plenty of these out there but I thought I'd post it here:

Hi, for absolute basics / a quick guide (forgive the title) see:

    (snip)
I think that the download is bogus. I got one redirect to a probable malware site ("upgrade flash player") on the first try on one of the links. Both links later showed the file as absent - I'd guess that it was a copyrighted ebook that the publisher eventaully found was being distributed inappropriately. Regardless, the .pdf is no longer there.

If I'm mistaken in any of that, I apologize in advance.
