One Drive is Driving me NUT'S! All my Pic's Gone! Please Help

Hello Everyone, I hope you are all well.
I am running Win 10 pro on an Old HP Pavilion Laptop With an AMD Processor running at 1.4 GHz with 8G of Ram. ( I have a newer one but? It needs a Hard Drive. It's in the process of being fixed.)
I removed One Drive Because it is too invasive a program. And WAY too resource hungry for this old computer of mine.
Besides? I want MY pictures on MY computer or on MY backup Drives. NOT on some "Big Brother" type Domain "cloud"!
Yet, When Microsoft did an Update? It REMOVED ALL OF MY PICTURES! And now say's they are on One Drive! I no longer HAVE one drive on my Computer. HOW do I get them Back? Please Help

You simply install OneDrive on any PC or phone with the same account and they will be there or go on to OneDrive on the web

I don't know much about One Drive. I don't use it.

I doubt that the latest Windows update moved anything, though. I presume that the pictures are where they were before, and that access to them has changed.

It sounds like you have no hardware backup scheme for your data. This is a reminder to get one. I don't know what size would be right for you, but 4TB external hard drives are easily had for less than $100US. Far from free, but if you store your life on your PC...

Hello SkynyrdPicker, and welcome to Ten Forums.

If you went through the OneDrive setup when first opened, you may have mistakenly set it to back up your Pictures folder.

If this is the case, then you can do what Samuria posted to open OneDrive on the web to save the pictures back to your computer.

Wish I had known about Onedrive on the web....so much easier to organise hundreds of photos collected over thirty years, ie- editing individually then putting them into appropriate folders, than through File Explorer.
    Thanks for tip Shawn.

There is also a Store App, OneDrive, that works just like going online without the hassle. Looks just like you had gone online, with folders/files, everything. And you can doo all the same things as actually going online.

I love it, used for a long time. Check it out, if you don't like, just uninstall it.

I use OneDrive, but it is a cloud SERVICE and has absolutely nothing (ABSOLUTELY NOTHING) to do with my computer.

    It is a cloud service.

I've seen similar events like this and I believe it involved Controlled Folders Access, which I do not use. Has anyone seen similar and CFA?

I betcha if the OP were to install the Store App I posted above for OneDrive (it's MS, NOT 3rd party), he would see all his pics and other folders/files. The Store App doesn't use anything on the PC concerning OneDrive setup or Explorer. It retrieves directly from the cloud and you work with it as such.
