Please can someone help. When I have monitor 1 on (destop main) and the second monitor (off) but get new icon from installed program. How can I make to icon go on the desktop monitor and not the spare monitor 2 (which is off) when I'm not using it? When I open noepad...it goes to monitor 2.... its annoying

For Notepad, just open it on monitor 2 and drag it to monitor 1. Then close it and open it again. It should then open in monitor 1.
As far as your icons go, You might want to check your monitor assignments in Nvidia Control Panel. It sounds like you might have them reversed.
I have display fusion installed to and both nvidia and display fusion indicate that desktop monitor 1 is the main but new icons always go to monitor 2 and i can't think why
Check your Settings page in Windows and see if the monitors are reversed there.
