    Same problem.
I delete files on desktop, they are still there, after pressing F5, they are gone.
Moving files infolders to different folder. Folders stay the same. After F5 folder is empty..

I installed w10 20h2 and the refresh for ''documents'' is broken again. the refresh works for all other folders...

I have spend the day with windows install. 20h2 is just buggy. 2004 works, but i tried the next 21h1 and so far it works.

I hate w10 and the coders at microsoft.

WORKED For Me: I closed all Explorer windows, opened one, went to View tab/Options/Change folder and search options/View tab/Apply to folders/Yes. Now downloads pop up immediately.

@Try3 (Denis): FWIW, when Explorer gets weird, I find that restarting it in Task Manager often puts things back to rights. Obviates the need for a restart. Blogged about this the other day, in fact: Further Windows Explorer Restart Follies.

    HTH,

    Ed,

I never bother trying to address Refresh problems any more.
    - I wasted months of my life chasing this a few years ago and there is no solution that lasts.
    - I reboot every morning and if Refresh problems appear later on I normally put up with them for the rest of the day.

I took your names in vain in a WUMgr thread earlier today. I didn't 'mention' either of you because that would have rather obligated you to assist the OP and I think just reading your article will be sufficient.

@Try (Denis): received and understood. Do I detect a hint of pique? Or perhaps Schadenfreude?
    Keep up the good work!

    Ed,

No, not at all. I've just gone back to check what I wrote and cannot see what you are referring to.

If there is anything unusual at all it is posting whilst baking four loaves of different types of bread requiring different interventions at different times. But I still don't see what you picked up.

I'm now almost at the crucial stage of having to test the loaves using highly specialized test equipment [half a pound of streaky bacon & half a pound of Red Leicester].

    All the best,

@Try3: I was teasing, but probably not overtly enough. Good luck with your kitchen adventures. Bon appetit! Curiously, the boss is out getting hard rolls for my son and I to make meatball sandwiches for lunch. Must be one of those kinds of days best served by a substantial sandwich.

    Ed,

    Any ideas about this one?
    www.tenforums.com/user-accounts-family-safety/177261-cant-access-other-users-logon-screen-only-old-user.html

The OP cannot log in because only an old [password unknown] user account appears on the login screen.
The OP knows passwords for other Admin accounts but cannot log in to them because only the old one appears on the login screen.

As soon as I saw the thread I thought, "Oh, I know how to solve that - it's very familiar.", but I don't.
