    Type a Unicode Character

Hello, I am using Win 10 version 2004 and build 19041.388.

If I try to enter a Unicode character via the method Alt + <hex number>, then I do get a character but it is the wrong one.

For example if I enter 2212 it give a 'n' with a squiggle on top whereas it should return the character "hyphen bullet".

Don't confuse alt codes for hex codes. They're not the same.

Alt codes are not in hex. They're octal
And hex codes won't work as alt codes.

You'd think this non-alphanumeric malarkey would have been solved by now.

pi has been around since the times of Archimedes, but 2,000 years later my pc still struggles with it.

    Ocatal does not work either.

If I convert the hex code 0x2212 to octal 21022 then I still do not get the minus character. It gives me a black triangle (▲).

    If I try decimal 8722 then I get a vertical arrow (↕).

And sometimes just messed up.. History repaired will seldom work well.

Type Alt+45 for simple minus sign...

What exactly do you try to achieve? Typing single character, or programing it?

You can type any Unicode character (in hex) with a minor registry change..
