    Typically any computer that has upgraded to windows 10 or updated Windows 10 has licensing data on Microsoft servers.
    This enables both minor and major hardware changes.
    Minor = drive
    Major = motherboard

    I signed on with a Microsoft account and "linked" that "copy" of Windows to my account. I installed Windows on the new drive and it activated with a digital license without having to sign in again.

    Nice.
    Install drivers displayed on the motherboard manufacturer's website.
    Make sure the BIOS is up to date.
    Install applications.

    When all of the above has completed > make free backup images
