    Just to update everyone, I was in the process of running the suggestions from the last reply and kept running into problems and errors and ended up deciding to just pull off the important files and reload Windows. I figured that even if I got it to boot, it would still likely have underlying problems and since it isn't my PC, but one I'm fixing for a friend of mine, I didn't want to give it back to them and them have more problems a week or a month from now. Thanks for all of your help!

    Excellent approach.

    Sometimes it just faster and like you said more reliable to just reload.

    Please perform steps 14 and 15 and 19 to 21 to check the hardware.
    Most steps can be performed overnight.

    I did. Updated the BIOS and all drivers are up to date now. Also hardware checks are coming back clean.

    Nice.

    Consider making free backup images:

    Acronis. Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.
