Endless reboots following update installation

I have a computer I don't use often. I booted it up to check for updates. There were several. It was installing the last update when it just rebooted on it's own. No warning. No prompt. I thought it was just part of the update. During the reboot I expected to see the usual blue screen showing the installation of the update similar to the one below, however, I only saw this screen blink and then on to my desktop. Several seconds later it rebooted and did the same thing again and again.

I managed to get to the advanced repair options. Repair was unsuccessful. I tried uninstalling the update, but that option was not there. I gave up and rebooted with crossed fingers. This time it booted successfully and stayed there. I tried reinstalling the update and got the same rebooting.

I have a snag of the screen showing the update in question. Has anyone else had a problem with this update?
That PC is running Win10 Pro Build 18363.592

Thanks for the link. I was going to avoid installing, but it has already begun installation again and I don't see how I can stop it.

I guess I can let it install and do what I did before. Then pause updates for as long as possible. What then?

You can hide (block) updates. E.g. with Wumgr (free) or Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10
Further, as you have Pro, you can set WU to Notify using Group Policy. so nothing happens via WU until you approve it- but that's all or nothing.

I downloaded Wumgr . Unfortunately the troublesome update was in the middle of installing and I could not figure out how to stop it. I let it continue with the install and true to form it went into the rebooting thing. I did the advanced repair procedures like before and even though it stated it could not repair the issue it seemed to have uninstalled the update.

I booted and immediately paused the updates. Then used Wumgr to block windows update. Weird thing is that when i went back to the settings>windows update page checking updates was totally gone. Like Wumgr erased the possibility to get updates.

This is fine for now since I don't use that computer. I hope the next time I pull it out they have fixed whatever is causing the issue.

The problem I had was the update in question never shows under Windows Update, I shows under update history as many failed attempts and then one showing pending. No way to select it and hide it. Strange. Probably just me.
