Navigation pane in File Explorer always opens to the bottom

I have a link to the F: drive on the task bar which does get me to my files quickly. However, the left panel is always at the bottom even after trying both solutions here. I previously had a couple more folders on the desktop that were at the bottom of the left panel so “Camera Roll” was the top item showing in the left panel. This was also true when I clicked on “This PC.” It’s a tiny issue to scroll to the top and “Quick Access” but I would just like to know why the left panel always opens at the bottom of the list.Navigation pane in File Explorer always opens to the bottom-win-explorer-opens-bottom.jpg

How are your Navigation Pane options set?

You don't have Expand to currrent folder sleected, do you?

    If you:
    1. Open Explorer with WInKey+E
    2. Collapse the Navigation Pane
    3. close & re-open Explorer

Does it open with the Navigation Pane collapsed? If so, close Explorer & open regedt. Navigate to:

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Modules\NavPane

RIght-click the NavPane "folder", select Permissions... > Advanced and add a Deny Set Value entry for your Username:

If the Navigation Pane opened expanded even after collapsing, try deleting the ExpandedState value under the NavPane key. Repeat the test. If suceesful, perform the above permissions mod.

I didn't know about the "Show all folders" option. Unchecking that solved my problem by not showing all the drives in my multicard reader or the Control Panel options. Clicking my link to the F: drive now looks like this. Navigation pane in File Explorer always opens to the bottom-win-explorer-opens-bottom-b.jpg

In Windows Explorer, Select the View Tab, then Select Options.
Navigation pane in File Explorer always opens to the bottom-view-options.jpg

In the General tab, click the drop-down for "Open File Explorer to:" and change it from "This PC" to "Quick access." Navigation pane in File Explorer always opens to the bottom-options-quick-access.jpg
