Hi all, I have a PC with Windows 10 Home (1903, 64 bit). I log in via Microsoft admin account and someone else logs in via a standard local account. Is it possible to hide the admin account user data folder/s from the local account user while having the folder/s visible to the admin user without further changing any settings? Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi, just considering data; I would expect that to be the case for anything under the default library folders (Documents, Videos etc). For others you can make use of libraries:
Create New Library in Windows 10
Include Folder or Drive to Library in Windows 10
or simply set the permissions on the folder appropriately.
Hi Dalchina, Thank you for your suggestions. Libraries when created seem to only show folders of the logged in user by default. I wanted to hide the folder when accessed directly on the disc. I tried denying security permissions for the local user but kept getting "failed to enumerate objects" errors. I suppose I will need to live with it - it's is not a big deal but I hoped it could improve security. Cheers.
Its how you set permission if it's inherent from above you need to set on the top folders you must be sure to set allow first so you don't lock your self out then specify the user don't use everyone as admins are members of everyone so you can lock even admins out
Hi Samuria, You are quite correct. That is why I did not try to change permissions to a group but to one user. The error message usually means that there is a conflict when changing a permission. I will try experimenting some more. Cheers.
