[RESOLVED] How many system provided color pickers are in Windows 10?

I use Irfanview for my graphic work and the only drawback is that the "Tool" color picker is from Windows XP days and doesn't have hexadecimal output.

Connected with the developer, and he asked if there are any more recent color pickers included in Windows to connect through Windows API, or any color picker built with either C or C++.

Windows 10 has only one color picker dialog for traditional applications and it hasn't had any significant changes since at least Windows 2000. There are some configuration options for developers but they have limited scope. I am sure there are third party color picker dialogs available but I know nothing about them. Paint and photo editing programs often have their own dialog.

To use a non-Windows color picker, it has to be in the public domain. "Free" software is still copyrighted by the owner.

Thanks to all. I'll pass on the info to the developer and mark the topic as solved.

That is a neat little program. Definitely a keeper.

Start it, point to the color you want and press the Alt key then click on Copy to Clipboard and you have the hex value of the color.

No idea what the Text tab does.

That gives hex and decimal values, nice.

There's like a million of those all over the net. I sometimes use this one from w3schools.com when working on my site.

Some photo editing apps (Example PS) will also have one. You can also get an app from the Windows Store - Free Color Picker: color picker from screen, html color picker, hex color picker. Can't speak of it's quality since I've never used that one.
