Has Anyone Worked With Linuxfx Also Known As Windowsfx??

I found this on a YouTube video and found it quite interesting so I downloaded it. It downloads as an ISO so I created a Windowsfx bootable USB, and I'll install it on one of my old Optiplex 755 systems. It should run fine. I was going to run it in a VM but I really want a full clean install on its own system. I know it is just a lookalike and still Linux based but! This may be an Open Door. I don't know till I install and play with it... It's a weekend project for me. I have no time left in the weekday for a project like this. But it is ready to go and it's only Tuesday... That gives you a lot of time to help out if you have worked with Linuxfx or apply named Windowsfx. The link to the Web site and the video that got me so interested is below.

Out of curiosity I looked at LinuxFX but since it's out of Brazil I can't read it and didn't find an English version on their page. I do like Linux Mint and have it on a Desktop and couple of Notebooks, now up to Version 20. For a few reasons I also have it on a Bootable USB Thumb drive.

Yes, of course, the term 'best' can mean a lot of things. I'd bet you want easy, reliable, and not too resource hungry. When I dabbled with Linux I found you want a solid 'attended to' distro with an active user base.

To get a 'familiar' looking OS only to learn it's anything but familiar is a future house of cards. it's like buying a car that appears to have automatic transmission but once you start driving it's stick in disguise.

Most popular distros are pretty easy to use once you take a long look at them on YouTube. I was a fan of Ubuntu Budgie but Linux flavors change by the month. Contrary to troll brainwashing I found Mint hard to use and the user forum full of jerks.

Linux, by the by, is a chance to get an OS that's much better looking than Windows.

The thing that got me is the interface. I`m a Windows guy, always have since actually 95s beginning. Before that! 1988 playing a game on a green screen, text format. Remember those days. So it doesn't matter to me how low on the list Windowsfx is. I have played with a lot of Linux distro`s but this is the closest to the Window interface that I have seen. It`s Wednesday, two more workdays. My question was, by the way, Have You Worked With Windowsfx. Thank you for posting I do operate it.

As a former Mac user of 29 years I wanted to dump Tim Cook's Apple badly. I started playing with something called Elementary OS because it was obviously inspired by Mac OS. I had a miserable time with it until I learned it sure was nice looking but it was crappy Linux distro. (Reminded me a little too much of Apple that way.) I soon learned the really busy and popular distros ran better.

So to address your Windows interest I'd recommend a version of Mint or Ubuntu. But of course try whatever you like because you're not committed to it yet.

Mint and Ubuntu I have run. But this is new for me, a Windows Interface. And you as well apparently. So I'll drop a HDD in my OptiPlex 755 and install this thing. This weekend not now... I will document the install the best I can. Most likely pics from my phone. I am sorry but I am pumped for this. I'm like a little kid with a new toy! Can't wait to play with it...

It's a bomb... I hated most everything about it. With a clean install on my Optiplex 755, I could not access the net. My access to the router was all correct but it still couldn't connect. A big turn off and actually the deal breaker. Maybe it was the system specs but it met the requirements. The interface... Well, it looked like Windows but it was Linux all the way through. So my experiment died a horrible death... You guys told me but stubborn me just had to push forward. But you know what? It was actually fun and the aforementioned "Horrible Death" Was just a part of the experience. And I would do it all again just for that... The Experience. No details so if you really want to know... Run the experiment yourself. Who knows! maybe your hardware will work and you'll like it.
