Windows 10 Pro Update and Defender dissapeared

Hi!
A few days ago I had a ransomware malware. I had nothing of value on my laptop and I manage to stop it using a ceratin app. But it somehow "deleted" my Windows Defender and Windows Update. I cannot search for Update, It sais that some seting are managed by my organisation. If I try searching for updates, I get the folowing error:
"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070424)"
Is there something I can do to restore these services without reinstalling Windows?

I take this entire concept to a Meta level.

All four of my house PCs are designed to be thrown right into a brick wall. So if they fail, are stolen -- very little to nothing is lost. This gives me great peace of mind in case I have to reinstall for any reason. I don't even want to bother with a dated Macrium image -- if that's okay to say here out loud. A fresh clean install... is just that.

Of course I have key files backed up locally on HDD drives and online.

So say I woke up and there was a fire in my house. The room I'm in has the critical PC and external hard drives. Since it's a VivoMini PC -- it and the drives can be thrown into any reasonably strong supermarket bag and only half fill it.

(The only annoyance is the power cord, which in a bad fire would be too annoying to reach under the desk and unhook. And in a terrible fire I'd just grab the external HDDs and run. Because if I don't I lose a LOT of my DVDs I ripped to digital -- even though -- I've sent copies of those to various friends.)

I wouldn't bother saving my laptop and TV micro PC. My wife's laptop is all backed up to the web for just such an occasion.

As a former Mac user of 29 years I was terrified of virus and malware situations. It took about two years to become comfortable with checking and doublechecking my system for such stuff and it's been smooth sailing. Prevention prevention.

E.g. Macrium Reflect (free-paid) + large enough external storage.

As it is, there's no knowing what sort of damage has been done, or whether it's repairable.

You could try an in-place upgrade repair install, which, like any upgrade keeps all progs and data.

You need a 1909 iso file (or you could use a bootable disk, but don't boot your PC from it).

Log in,
Rt click the iso file, click Mount
Open new drive letter in file explorer.
Double click setup.exe.

Gonna give it a try. Hope it works. 'cuz I do not want to start reinstalling everything I already have. It would take me days, at least.I really don't have the time
