Windows 10 start search does not work for users except administrator

    Hi,

I am new here and it is my first post. Please correct me if I do something wrong.

    Here is my problem:

After installing Windows 10 Pro (version 2004) with reference image, Windows started up with with administrator auto login. Everything is fine.

When I try to use pre-created account "admin", Start Layout is exactly what I want. But start search does not work. It is same for other two pre-created accounts.

It is strange that only administrator is ok but other accounts fail.

Any idea how to fix it?

I created reference image with answer file. What I did are:

    1. Enabled administrator and added three more local accounts (two under administrators group and one under guests).
    2. Set Start Layout
    3. Added oemlogo

    Thanks,

    Waichung

    Hi,

I am sorry I don't see your name.

Reference Image: I follow "Windows 10 Unattended install media" to build a image by Sysprep and then capture the image (install.wim). Then use this to do installation.

Administrator means build in system administrator which I enabled auto logon in unattend file

admin is the local account with administrators right (added in unattend file)

Start Layout is the Start Menu layout.

    Regards,

You have two search points on Win 10. One is in Explorer (search files) and other is on the taskbar. Witch one doesn't work except on system administrator?

Waichung, you have mark this thread as solved. This makes good people not to look at your thread. Please set it as non solved.

I'm not sure but I think the search bar on the task bar is associated with Cortana. Did you changed the way Cortana works?

I guess I accidentally marked it solved.

The language is Chinese that Cortana does not support. I don't know what other tool or service to do what Cortana supposed to do under this scenario.
