    weird drive properties


    There is a compress option missing on one of my USB drives. None of my drives is compressed.
    I just can't explain why the option is missing.

    Hey mate,

    NTFS compression supports cluster sizes of up to 4 KB. When the cluster size is greater than 4 KB on an NTFS volume, none of the NTFS compression features are available.

    Does the drive with this setting missing has a cluster size larger than 4 KB?

    You can run the command below in an elevated command prompt to see the "Bytes Per Cluster" size of your "J" drive in the report details.

    fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo J:\

    Yep, your "J" drive has a 32 KB cluster.
