Cannot remove a dead link from My PC

I no longer have system folders, ever since Microsoft removed the "system" designation from their default folders. But there remained a dead Pictures folder link (also marked as a system folder) attached on the branch between "My PC" and "C:\Drive". When clicked, it tells me that the source folder does not exist. But, I am unable to remove it and tried the following:
sfc /scannow reported everything is ok,
used DISM restorehealth with no change,
booted into safe mode and tried to delete it.
Any recommendations on how to remove it?

Did you try deleting it from an elevated cmd prompt with the FULL path and the parameter /f [ the /f parameter means force ]?

There used to be a "Pictures" folder in \users\ineuw, but it's long gone. MS no longer tags it as system folder and they can be deleted. I have no idea how that folder remained there and showing as a system folder. Tried to find it in the registry but there are numerous references to "Pictures", so I didn't touch anything. If I click on restore default location, it creates a standard folder in the home folder.

MS created home folders were never used. I delete them on installation. It doesn't relate to my data storage scheme. Besides, I would never keep data on a boot partition, let alone have MS manage it.
