Cannot remove a dead link from My PC

I no longer have system folders, ever since Microsoft removed the "system" designation from their default folders. But there remained a dead Pictures folder link (also marked as a system folder) attached on the branch between "My PC" and "C:\Drive". When clicked, it tells me that the source folder does not exist. But, I am unable to remove it and tried the following:
sfc /scannow reported everything is ok,
used DISM restorehealth with no change,
booted into safe mode and tried to delete it.
Any recommendations on how to remove it?

    Hi,
    Try this:
Right click the file or folder and go to properties.
Go down to where it says Attributes
And uncheck Read-only and Check Hidden - Click Apply
A continue with admin privilege's pops up, - click on continue
Then right click and click delete and see if it deletes the folder

Did you try deleting it from an elevated cmd prompt with the FULL path and the parameter /f [ the /f parameter means force ]?

Your description is confusing, can we see a screenshot please?

There's no such thing as "My PC" on any of my systems, It was called 'My Computer' in XP, just 'Computer' in Win7, then 'This PC' in Win8/Win10.

Apologies it's "This PC" not my PC.

Tried everything suggested above and the folder is not removable. Please see the attached pic

So the actual folder should reside in C:\Users\YourUserName\Pictures

If the OP actually has files in the Pictures folder, but the Quick Access link is broken, it shouldn't be deleted.

Right-click on the entry and select Properties.

Click on the Location tab and either cut and paste the path, or click Restore Default.

Thanks for pointing out the video.

There used to be a "Pictures" folder in \users\ineuw, but it's long gone. MS no longer tags it as system folder and they can be deleted. I have no idea how that folder remained there and showing as a system folder. Tried to find it in the registry but there are numerous references to "Pictures", so I didn't touch anything. If I click on restore default location, it creates a standard folder in the home folder.

MS created home folders were never used. I delete them on installation. It doesn't relate to my data storage scheme. Besides, I would never keep data on a boot partition, let alone have MS manage it.

That's why you can't remove it...there is no existing folder location.

Create an empty folder, and assign it to that path.

    Then, try to delete it.
