I'm curious if any registry edits or scripts used in/for 1909, might have caused Windows update to 2004 to abort, or caused the problems for this update. Is this update so poorly written that most users have to "undo" what they choose with their files and antivirus programs?!!

Additionally, there has also been a change in how Microsoft handles attempted forced installs of the ISO on a system that has a block.
I was able to force install it in early June, and I tested it for a couple days before rolling back to 1909.
It will now stop the install, tell you your PC is not ready, and gracefully exit the installer.
So that's a "tell".
My computer has been ready for the update 4 times and not ready three times... I now see this:

Unfortunately it doesn't seem possible to get the precise reason related to your PC. It may be that if the rollback logs are created in this case you might be able to infer something:

Whilst you can try running MS's setupdiag.exe (just Google it), this hasn't yet proved very useful.
Best to wait at least until the first major update has been released, and then do it in a controlled manner:
- create a disk image before attempting the upgrade
- then attempt the upgrade
Your PC seems relatively recent. Check HP's list of PC's compatible with build 2004.
