    Ctrl+Delete not working.

All other control+ functions work except for this one and only while browsing; still works within MS programs. (You never realize how much you rely on such shortcuts until they're suddenly absent!)

Thank you for any assistance in advance.

What program are you using the CTRL+DEL key combo for? What does the Ctrl + Del keyboard shortcut? ‒ defkey
If you want to permanently delete a file without the sending to Recycle Bin, you would hold down Shift+Del

    Thank you for your interest.

This is a very simple shortcut in Windows where hitting both the control key and the delete key at once deletes the next word following the cursor (whereas control + backspace buttons deletes the word prior to the cursor's placement on the page). The first combination has stopped working though all other similar shortcuts (including backspace combo) work just fine.

These shortcuts are useful when writing in text boxes such as this or whenever writing on a website.

This is more of a major inconvenience than a major issue--it's driving me crazy.

As I mentioned, this issue occurs only in my browsers and it doesn't matter which browser I use, while it works just fine using my standalone software. I've double-checked Internet Explorer (such a totally outdated app!) and cannot locate any item that would cause this, though I'm sure it's any easy fix.

How to fix a broken shortcut in 2020's Windows 10 might be a better way to word the question.

    @Tori

If the ctrl+delete keyboard shortcut, doesn't work in ANY browser, then it seems to be a Windows issue. A windows issue that is ONLY related to... browsing the internet.

Have you tried opening a command prompt as admin, and running sfc /scannow ??

/e I also wonder if you may have noticed any other issues with just the delete key? Since, ctrl+backspace still works.

Does it work in Safe Mode? If yes, try using Clean Boot to determine the cause:

Thank you both--I agree that this is clearly a Windows issue; thank you both for the guidance as to where to go from here! I'll check out your suggestions and check back in with you!

    Check-in r: Control+Delete shortcut inactive

Sorry, it takes me a while. ...

Scan did not resolve and still exists in safe mode (I cannot possibly go through all of my everything in attempt of locating the specific culprit; this has been going on for some time and I cannot reasonably isolate the time-period for when it commenced).

Yes it is only in browsers and [I]all[I] of them: Chrome, Firefox, Opera, even MS Edge.

OH!!! Now that I think of it ... I wonder if Edge could be the circumventor?! (Knowing MS as well as I unfortunately do, I would not be surprised.)

I'm also wondering if there may be a service (or some other simple thing) that has stopped or if there is some command or registry text I can add to repair this little thing?

Thank you both for your patience with me!

Just tried it in Word 2013, Ctrl + Del does work as described. It may be more dependent upon a program's functions rather than Windows itself.

It works here in this forum as well, just tried it from Seamonkey and Edge Chromium.

As it works in each of my MS 365 (Word, PP, Excel, etc.) and every other desktop app I use, as well. The function is defunct (broken; not working!) in my browsers only and so I'm seeking a solution to that kink in my shortcut-keys.

Does anyone know of a way to reset the Windows keyboard shortcuts or how to reprogram that one specifically, by chance?
