    I've never owned a laptop.

Never will. They have one advantage over desktops and dozens of disadvantages. It's no contest since the one advantage they have means nothing to me. Don't own a smart phone either--for the same reason.

I first raised my eyebrow at laptops 25 years ago when I knew someone who paid over 7000 dollars for a Dell laptop. I guess that would be circa 15,000 dollars today, adjusted for inflation. This was back in the days of the Intel 386 and 486 processors, when an upper level desktop was maybe 2000 dollars.

Really? Why so many? Are you building a personal collection or what?!

In the past few years, I've sold a few PC's, sent several to 'Electronics Reclamation' and kept a few to just 'Play' with.
Currently, I have five portables (Laptops) and four desktop PC's. Only one desktop is my Main PC, which I built myself several years ago. It's still one of the fastest PC's I've ever worked on.
About once a month, I boot up every one of my little computers, update all the programs and run a few checks.
With "Stay at home" orders in effect, playing with my PC's gives me something to do, to avoid going bonkers.

On my main PC, I have several HD's (five) with different OS's on them. My main OS, on an SSD, is Windows 7/Pro/32. But on other HD's (which I keep unplugged, except when I'm using them) I have Windows 7/Pro/64, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, in both 32bit and 64 bit.
Playing with various OS's is just my hobby, since I'm 77 and retired. It keeps me out of trouble. lol

    Cheers mates!

PS: Right now, I'm using a spare HD with Windows 10/Pro/64 on it. With Classic Shell installed, it looks and runs pretty much like Windows 7. I see no advantage, over Windows 7.

My one laptop was bought in Dec 2013 and is used for vacation travel. I did a lot of traveling after I retired in 2007. Had a prior laptop running XP that had a broken hinge on the screen so I updated to this one. My current one came with Windows 8 and I updated to Window 10 Pro. It has a AMD A10 CPU and I replaced the HDD with a SSD a few years ago. I keep it updated and use it as a test bed when not traveling. Tried Windows 2004 and it worked OK but went back to 1909 for now. Thanks to Macrium I can experiment with it. Wife and I each have a home built AMD A10 desktop with SSD so we are set.

    To answer the question 1.
The only one that runs win10. I'm finally breaking away from laptops. I've found over the years, that it seems that laptops in general have higher hardware failure, and shorter life expectancy than PCs. The last working one belongs to my wife, and I just bought another PC to replace it. For as long as it lasts, will just be used as a backup. My Lenovo laptop just died a couple of weeks ago. We are now a PC only household with a network of 4 PCs. The only other laptop is an Acer netbook running XP which I'm going to use for an old Canon scanner, because my very first PC build from 2002 running XP Pro finally died after 18 years.
I almost forgot! I also have an IBM Thinkpad 760XL running win98.
