Just bought my first brand new Laptop a few weeks ago!

Before that, it was always hand-me-downs and used junk!

Never cared for laptops, but my ever increasing duties, out of home, forced me to buy a good one!

I have two desktops (both HP) running Windows 10 and one laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. I had two more desktops and another laptop until my husband destroyed them last year .... *sigh*

I have two laptops - a new HP ProBook 450 G6 and a six year old Dell Inspiron 7537. I only bought the HP since the screen on the Dell went blank and I was convinced it had suffered a serious hardware fault. I since discovered one hinge was partly broken causing the display cable to flex and disconnect. All fixed with a dab of epoxy glue but I had to totally disassemble the laptop!

I also have a self-built desktop PC and an old c. 2006 self-built desktop PC kept for experimental purposes to see how long Windows 10 will keep working on it.

Overall peak circa 2014 for all classes combined; gradual decline since. I suppose largely due to rise of smart phones and the realization that CPUs of the last few years remain sufficiently powerful for most tasks much longer than they did 10 or 15 years ago.

    Laptops still growing, but slowly.

Google sez total "PCs" in the world approaching 3 billion, having reached 2 billion in 2008.

I currently only own one laptop (2nd Comp in System Specs) and 2 Desktops the 1st one is (1st Comp in System Specs) and the 2nd one was originally an HP Pavilion Elite m9458f Desktop PC that's been through a few upgrades (Now Motherboard, CPU & Blu Ray drive) are the only original parts that remains but still runs good to this day which is surprising since it originally came with Windows Vista Home.

I should also mention that I have owned 1 other Laptop an 15" HP that I bought at a pawnshop but sold it a year or so later.

    I've never owned a laptop. I just knew I'd break it. :)

/e At one time, I did consider one of those ruggedized notebooks. But the prices were insane.

    Hi there
with more people working from home and realizing small tablet / phone screens aren't the way to do any serious type of computing - especially multi tasking with multiple screens then its not surprising there's still a steady sale of laptops -- people who predicted the demise of laptops were a bit wrong.

There's still a market as well in smaller powerful desktops to be used as Home NAS servers -- development machines and gaming platforms --I doubt if people developing serious gaming applications would do it on a Mobile phone even if the game can be played eventually on a mobile device.

I defy anyone for example to do serious photo editing without the use of a large screen (or several) and without use of mouse or / and a pen type device -- and have you ever tried cutting and pasting bits of text using a small tablet or mobile phone !!!.

Things like phones / tablets work best for simple casual net browsing, doing the odd simple online buying e.g from amazon, simple email, quick google look ups, music playing, video watching (if you don't mind looking at tiny screens - but around 30 mins is enough for me on those things). Computers are still king for myriads of other tasks.

Anyway to answer the OP's question :

3 laptops -- 1 decent HP envy ultrabook, 1 Sony VAIO 1 really old but working philips laptop , 2X "HP Proliant micro servers" 1X tower type desktop.

    Cheers
