It would be so much handier to use Quick Access for my most-used folders if they would actually expand when I click on them. Is there a way to make that happen?
You could just add your user folder to the navigation pane.

Thank you, Edwin. I used QTTabBar for a long time, but it finally just proved too buggy for me. I'm currently using Groupy, by Stardock, which does something similar. QT has some functionality I wish Groupy has, but Groupy has been more stable.
Callender, I did have my User Folder in the nav pane at one time. I didn't use it much, and it became an irritation when the nav was full of so much crap that I could never find anything. Quick Access, Desktop, all five cloud drives, Libraries, My PC, Network, etc. User Folder was one of the things I deleted in order to clean it up. Maybe if I actually used it, it could be worth it. I might give that a shot. Thanks!
The folders in Quick Access don't expand because they're not true folders or namespace junctions like the folders under This PC. They're shortcuts similar to .lnk files and thus "jump" to their target when opened.
You could add Favorites back to the NavPane and populate that with junctions. To get the folder to expand in the NavPane, change the Attributes value in the .reg file to 0xf080004d.
I see that the file before editing says:

...without the 0x. I'm not familiar enough with how .reg files are interpreted to know the answer to this, so:

Yes, that is what I did. It doesn't seem to have provided any treelike behavior.
The 0x prefix is not required for .reg files. The values are hex by default. Force of habit on my part...
