You can add it back with Winaero Tweaker (and also add it to right click desktop context menu)

Also switch control panel view to small icons.
K will try that, thanks for the reply!

If you "edited" it, that's the one you'll get.

    There is only one copy.

You would need to roll back your changes using System Restore, or do a repair install using an in-place upgrade.

Note: I'm not on 2004 so maybe there's an issue with that but I cannot test.

That's why it's always a good idea to backup your system before making changes, either with a disk image, or at least a System Restore point.

I've been wanting the old control panel back in Windows 10 and I'm wondering if anyone knows how?

Or do you prefer the Icon View?

For that, click Start or Search and type Control Panel.

And it doesn't have to but I would like the old windows update back in it also....

Since the first release of Windows 10 Microsoft have been removing functions from the Control Panel and putting them in the Settings app. Windows Update was one of the very first and cannot be run in the control panel any more. With each new version more settings have been either been removed from Control Panel or are now duplicated in Settings. Almost all settings are now in the Settings app, with only the more advanced settings exclusively in the Control Panel.

My WVN is Version 2004 (OS Build 20161.1000)

That is the very latest Dev Channel (Fast Ring) Insider build and a very strange choice for someone who wants to hark back to the old Control Panel. 20161.1000 is at the forefront of Microsoft's aim to migrate everything into the Settings app.

    Microsoft said:
We’re continuing to work on bringing capabilities from Control Panel forward into Settings. As part of this ongoing effort, we are migrating information found in Control Panel’s System page into the Settings About page under Settings > System > About. Links that would open the System page in Control Panel will now direct you to About in Settings.

And seemingly not what the OP wants. It puzzles me why they are trying to resurrect the old Control Panel functions in the latest Fast Ring build anyway, when Microsoft have taken so much time to design it out of that build.

Might check/search the Tutorials section here for GodMode, gives a menu details-type list of what's available, more or less a different view.

Hasn't really articulated what he wants.

Said he "edited" (Group Policy? Something else?) the Control Panel, and wants the "original", but keeps getting the "edited" one.
