Start Up Commands

Hi all,

I've got a GK35 backlit keyboard that I've had for a few years now. The backlit part of it has 3 different colour options available that I can select by pressing 'FN & TAB'.

The problem I have is that the keyboard is default set to start with 'green' when I actually want it to default as 'blue' (to go with the colour scheme of the new PC I've just purchased and had delivered today). For me to get the colour I want I now need to manually press 'FN+TAB' everytime Windows loads up so I was wondering if there's a way I can get the system to perform this task itself as unfortunately there are no options to do so in the keyboard settings.

I was wondering if there is an easy way to get the startup files to inlude a line somewhere (like what I'd have done many years ago with the config.sys & autoexec.bat files) but I'm not sure, is there an easy way to get the PC to simply include the virtual pressing of 'FN+TAB' before it boots up windows? It's quite a simple thing in principle but I'm new to Windos 10 and simpy don't know.

Any ideas?

Hi, whilst there are ways of mapping and 'sending' most keys, Fn is, I believe, a hard wired key and is a modifier - i.e. it's not one that can be emulated in software.

I think that is a hardware function which Windows may not be able to intercept or emulate.

I'd like to think I'm wrong.

Changing the Keyboard Backlight Color
To change the keyboard backlight color: Press <FN> + < C>

To cycle through the available backlight colors.
You use the Fn button plus the tab key to change the colour

Is there also a keyboard user interface method that avoids the need for the Fn key?

I only ask because mine does so I can call up its user interface then manipulate it automatically using a vbs script that emulates use of Enter, Tab & arrow keys.

Just for completeness, I ought to ask if you have checked that there is no method of permanently altering the keyboard's default behaviour [default colour].
If you do not have that information but, for example, you bought it through Amazon you could go back to your order and use the option to email the seller so you can ask about any undocumented methods.
