    mouse drag/drop/selection problem

    hello. I have a logitech M510 and M705 mouses.

i primarily use the M705 mouse when I had this problem. I tried the M510 to see if its a mouse problem,

    Its a very annoying problem.

I am having trouble dragging and dropping files. when dragging, it cuts out on me. other times it won't let me drag a file or a window to a different size. other times or move a window to another area, i'm dragging a file, it cuts out, picks up another file and gets dropped into an entirely different folder than was intended which I don't know where it went.

On selection, its a battle to get the selection I want. I would have to select the hyper link 2 or more times to take. other times its super sensitive, it create additional tabs of the link or it would take me 2 links forward or 2 links backwards depending on where i'm at on the website. It also expands folders or windows when I did not intend to do.

its especialy difficult to select files for renaming, have had to repeat a number of times for the rename mode to come up.

it would also not let me do fine selection on sentences, it would do it word by word. it would sometimes skip over words and start a new selection process. this is another battle I've had to contend with.

    ideas?

Hi, do you have similar problems using your touchpad, or is that ok?

Both your mice are wireless. Could you beg/borrow/steal a wired mouse to try?

(Noted your Windows build is old- 1809- is there any reason for keeping that build? Also noted your laptop Lenovo Ideapad 110 is fairly recent- around 2017)

I did not think about using the touchpad. I haven't used it too much in favor of the M510 mouse.

I forgot to mention this. when I held the USB wireless receiver, the problem partially went away. i've tried that with esc and ctrl key with some limited success. sometimes it works or doesn't work.

windoze version. no particular reason. I update it when windoze auto update tells me.

I recently checked the update section, it tells me there is a new update, 1909, waiting. the auto update did not tell me about that one.

hmmm.. just looked at the update history. it says 1903 update failed in august 29, 2019. Interesting. my mouse problems started in fall 2019.

    And my question about mice?

Note that end of life for 1809 users has been extended due to the coronavirus:

And again- try a wired mouse?

Considering the wireless mice, are you using the same USB receiver in each case or swapping that, and where is your mouse with respect to it- how far away- anything between them?

    Mouse pointer moving erratically

Do you have access to a different PC on which to try them?

Are you using an appropriate surface under the mice?
