Freezes after 1909->2004 update

after the latest windows10 update from 1909 to 2004 I started to have some random freeze (without blue screen), sometime one a day, sometime two a day, and sometime no freeze in a day, all was working fine with 1909 (and previously with 1903).

someone pointed out the "intel sata ahci controller" driver that was updated together in this windows10 upgrade: before with 1909 I had the version 10.0.18362.1, now I see 16.8.3.1003. it is possible that this driver causes this freeze? in the hp driver download page or via hp assistant no new driver is available, can I use the previous one or use the generic microsoft one? I tryed to uninstall that driver, but after doing that windows was broken and did not start up at all (then restarted from previous restore point)


if it may help: PC is notebook HP 250 G5, I replaced the 500gb hd with 250gb samsung 860 evo 2 years ago

plz, before going further, try WinRE tools to repair startup and/or System Components

Well freeze and unexpected restarts are known issues.
If you have a system image use it and leave 2004 alone for a while.

is it safe? i just bricked windows trying to uninstall that driver

permanent freeze. I left the notebook almost there 5 minutes to see if something will recover but as nothing happens I have to turn off manually the notebook and then power it on again

known issues even with a notebook? I am writing there because I haven't read nothing regarding freezes with 2004, can you point me in some discussion? thanks

Are you using any third-party addons - apps - spellcheckers/grammar check etc

it's a business laptop, locks happened even while working in remote desktop not only while browsing
I understand some error, not a complete freeze
