Freezes after 1909->2004 update

Good day.

Judging from version numbers you posted you have had installed both the ms standard ahci driver and Intel ahci driver.

Open hardware manager and look under SATA controllers to see which one is installed. If Intel's, you can change it to MS standard ahci driver and check. You just need to reboot.

Wee you offered the upgrade to 2004 by Windows Update, or did you choose to upgrade manually?

by windows update, no manual or forced install
windows was telling me to update by some week when I decided to go on

I tryed to uninstall that intel driver (+remove driver) then windows was not booting anymore, is it "safe" to change that into the ms standard driver?

Hi, your problem may, but doesn't have to, be related to a 2004 upgrade. It may bea pure coincidence. The first thing that I would do would be relaunching the system in Safe Mode to eliminate (to some degree) hardware related issues or in Clean Boot to limit the possibility of a third-party software interference, as xsteve quite rightly pointed out. Have you made any changes in UEFI settings recently?

Yes. You can select the ms standard ahci driver and reboot afterwards. If you just delete/uninstall intel ahci driver your system won't boot anymore (as you have already noticed).

Hi, I think I solved the problem (two weeks for now.. not so much but the hangs were almost every day) by changing that "IDE ATA/ATAPI controller" from the one you can see in the previous post (intel AHCI) with the STANDARD AHCI/SATA one:



try that but before do a clone/backup of the entire system

and of course I did all the updates for the 2004 released so far
