How to add or remove icons from the "show hidden icons"

right now i only see ccleaner and nvidia icon on my hidden icons in the taskbar and i cant find where to add or remove icons from there.

under task manager/startup i see ccleaner there but no other programs.
right now i only want to add avira antivirus to my hidden icons and i have checked the settings in avira but there is no option there that will make the icon visable under hidden icons.

when i reinstalled windows a couple of months ago the icon was there but not anymore. when i start avira and close it again it will show up and remain as a hidden icon but after restarting my computer its gone again.

so how do i fix this?

How do you add or remove icons in the notification area?

    See:

Note I have Avast there. Perhaps you will see Avira. If so, make the appropriate choice to have it shown.

If you don't, you may need to repair Avira or find, as you have tried, some option. Relevant posts:

Once it appears on the taskbar you can move it into the overflow box simply by dragging it (and v. versa).

Thank you so very much for your reply.

    You said

    I have explained that.

    You said
i only want to add avira antivirus to my hidden icons
    I have explained that.

I have also covered the possibility that you have no Avira icon there.

Want something else? Please ask a very specific question, and if it's about Avira, kindlty refer to Avira's forum. Thank you.

First, the icon(s) must be in the Notification Area. THEN you can drag and drop them to the hidden section.

So... you might want to rephrase the question to... how do I add icon(s) to the Notification Area.

i said i wanted to add to hidden icons, not taskbar.
so your saying its about avira itself? not windows?

well i dont know about you but in my windows its called "show hidden icons" and i have latest verision of windows.

and i didnt know they had to be in some "system tray" before you can move them to hidden icons.

anyway i have tried that and it works to move the avira icon to hiiden icons after i put it in system tray but after restart my computer its gone again

Sometimes... (Win 10 1909), I had to drag and drop them a couple times before they... "stuck" to the hidden section.

/e I never tried with my AV program. The ones I did drag and drop to the hidden section were, EVGA Precision and Persistent Windows.

Maybe the AV won't let you permanently move it to the hidden section. As in, it WANTS you to always see it.
For example, my Bitdefender icon, changes colors for various reasons, and maybe the company itself "wants" you to "see" those color changes?

    See my edit above.

Also, I use backup software, so it might be that I restored from a backup , and THAT moved it back to the un-hidden area.

/e Lemme try with AV icon... I'll move it, if possible, then reboot.

/ee Ok... when I drag and drop Bitdefender icon to the hidden area...it stays there, after reboot. I've never used Avira, so I can't test that.

Other things you might want to check...

    1. Make sure Avira is set to run at startup. Cause if it's NOT running after startup (reboot), it WILL disappear from the hidden area.
    2. Check Avira itself for settings related to startup, and/or real time settings.

The program Persistent Windows, that I run, doesn't run at startup, so it DOES disappear from the hidden area, when I reboot. As soon as I "run" the program though, it goes back to the hidden area.

/eee The only other thing I can think of... is that Avira doesn't "want" to be hidden. Like I mentioned above... maybe it wants you to see the icon, all the time.
