This discussion may prompt an idea:
Enter Network Credentials On Windows 10 - Error Fix

whilst this is on a somewhat different topic and could well be irrelevant..
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0-1a4f7b66fee0
but mentions some settings that may be related somehow.

I asked someone else with build 1909 to try this- no prompt for credentials, which suggests it's not build-related.
I'd be curious if they might already have a 'Web Credential' entry under the Credential Manger that's being used.

I don't feel I can ask alas- they were a bit reluctant, disappointingly and refused first time, seeming somewhat shocked I'd asked - in capitals. I replied explaining more why I was interested, giving the option to decline.

Feel free to find someone with 1909 or 2004 you can PM and ask.

    I understand. Thanks.

Maybe someone tuning into this thread will volunteer.

on 1909 with an MS account, I get asked for credentials to connect to Bing - haven't done so (yet?). My only Web credentials are for an EE sim card - I guess because for some reason they were saved by IE (I use Firefox). I have no Windows credentials, only some 'general' ones (some of which i don't recognise).

    Thanks for the data point.

In case you missed my experience earlier in the thread ( #6 ), I'd commented on these same unrecognized generic Windows Credentials that I've wondered about in previous builds.

As a side track you'll probably like me, check under Windows Credentials, where you'll see some Generic entries that seem odd, with the same random 'User name' Id's . Seeing them after clean installs, and from what I'd read, they're standard issue. And as I recall, if you delete them they'll just reappear

What happens if you select cancel where it asks for your username and password? I dont wish to enter my credentials for Bing either. I just select Cancel and It takes me straight across into the Edge browser to the search. Bing is my default search engine anyway so I dont understand why it asks for credentials and I also sign in with a Microsoft Account. Im using Edge Chromium and 1909 version too.

It just opens the link in my default browser (Firefox). As I have no idea what credentials it might want, and don't intend to spend time on it, I shall just avoid entering anything into that field - I have never needed to, and shan't start now. Typical bizarre, unexplained MS behaviour.

Its very strange. I didnt know what credentials it was asking for either..its not clear at all. Ive never seen Bing ask for credentials to use it...ever. I never enter credentials anywhere either unless they're absolutely required.
