how do i remove the 'status' column in windows explorer - permanently!

    Hi Guys,

i know how to adjust columns and add/remove columns in File Explorer, but when i remove the Status column via the usual method, the change in settings only lasts for that moment, meaning, if i deselect the status column, the column will reappear next time i go to that folder. it seems the 'Choose Details' option is only a temporary change.

i would like to removed the Onedrive Status column permanently.

    can this be done?

    thanks all.

Hi, discussed here, but without resolution.

I came across this - it refers to the Nav. Pane which is not what you're showing, but I'm wondering if it might be related. (I don't use Onedrive).

You could try that and then deselecting the column.

This review seems to suggest there may be options in Onedrive settings to deselect folders:
OneDrive Files on Demand - Setup, Configuration and Use - Corinium Technology Limited.

    - without trying it I'm not certain whether this is relevant.

I can confirm that when you select 'Files On Demand', Explorer will insist on having the status column even if you remove it.

It uses that column instead of the 'green check mark' or 'blue sync arrows' on the icon overlays of the files which will then disappear. The status column then adds a new symbol, the 'cloud' to represent files you have in the cloud but have not yet demanded.

If you don't select 'Files On Demand' you can permanently remove the status column, and the 'green check marks' and the 'blue sync arrows' will again be overlaid on the file's icon.

So, if I can’t completely remove the column, can I permanently make it the last column, not the first??

You may be able to drag the column header to the right if it behaves like other such columns.

    Then use

[QUOTE=Funjunkie6;1940589... can I permanently make it the last column, not the first? [/QUOTE]

When I ran OneDrive with 'Files On Demand' set, I was able to drag it to the end and it appeared to stay that way for the short tests I ran.
