    Check Mark

All of a sudden I've been getting these check marks on my desktop Icons. I refresh and they go away but after a few days they come back. Anyone know how to get rid of them permanently?

Those have been synced to Onedrive or maybe Norton backup. See the same check in the icon to the left the usb drive icon?

Exit whatever program has the icon just to the right of up arrow to L of the clock. Is that program backing up to an external drive now?

Are you sure you wanted to not use OneDrive any more? It has it's uses.

Yes, it has its uses. It allows Microsoft to see your data. And it allow their flaky software to slow down your computer.
Been there. Done that. Turned it off. Never again.

If Microsoft wanted to see your data, noting you do could stop them.

In reality, they just don't care. You, I or any other individual are just not that important to them other than as one of many million customers/users of their software.
