"Power Button" wakes PC from sleep...or does it?

I have this recurring problem:

About 4 weeks ago my desktop PC would wake up immediately after i set it to sleep.
powercfg -lastwake query in cmd prompt returned: Type: Fixed feature, Power Button

I googled this problem and also searched here on the forums and some people seem to be able to fix it by disabling wake timers in power managment - this did not work for me.

What worked for me was disabling "wake on pattern match" for the network adapter in device manager.
After that, the PC would stay asleep until i woke it with either mouse or keyboard.
To test this, i re-enabled "wake on pattern match" , to see if it would prevent the PC from staying asleep, but weirdly enough the PC would stay asleep, until i wake it up by keyboard/mouse. So i left the "wake on pattern match" enabled.
Now after about 4 weeks the problem is back.

Normally i would be happy to prevent my network adapter to wake the PC, as i don't really use that feature but i am worried that something else is wrong, e.g. a faulty power button. My PC is relatively new and still under warranty so i could get the button fixed if it's broken.

Since disabling "wake on pattern" seems to "solve" the problem, it does not seem to be a problem with my Power Button.
But why would powercfg -lastwake indicate that Power Button is waking up my PC then?

Try this to see if it helps:

Rather than completely disabling wake-on-LAN, try going into Device Manager, locate the network adapter, right-click on it and select properties, go to the "Power Management" tab, check the box that says "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer".

See if that helps at all.

As i wrote in my post, disabling "wake on pattern" works and it essentially only leaves "wake on magic package" as active (in the "advanced" tab), as far as i can see.
Your solution would probably bypass the problem too as essentially only "wake on magic package" would be active.
In short both of the above only leaves "wake on magic package" as active

This however does not solve the issue of whether or not it is the power button that is at fault.
If the network adapter wakes the pc from sleep, shouldn't the query powercfg -lastwake show the network adapter as the device that woke the pc?

I suspect that there is no problem with the power button. The reason that I suggested what I did was because in my research I noticed that there other people reporting the same exact problem and that this is what they did to resolve it.

Yeah, that was also what pointed me in the direction of network adapter settings in the first place.
I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't the power button.

Well, maybe it's just a bug i have to live with. At least there is a workaround for it.
I'll just leave "wake on pattern match" disabled permanently, or do as you suggested, and just hope that it stays at that.

applied the pre may image- No problems .since- 2 or 3 days. Thnx msft. JUn ought to be fun- perhaps I'll sit on 1909 apr patch for a year or two.

Am glad I found this thread as I was having the same issue with my PC waking up when it shouldn't and the power button being highlighted as the culprit using powercfg -lastwake.

Firstly, checking the box in Network Adapter Properties for "Only Allow a Magic Packet to Wake the Computer" has cured my random wake issue. The PC now stays asleep until I or a scheduled event, wakes it.

Secondly, I do believe it is a bug in a recent Windows Update patch that has caused this as this. The problem only appeared over the past month or so. Alongside Windows 10, I'm running to different Linux distributions (triple boot set up). Neither of the Linux distros wake the PC unless requested which to my mind rules out a problem with the power switch.

I hope many haven't gone to the trouble/cost of having their power switched replaced only to find the problem may still be there afterwards.
